Nominees for U.S. Soccer Young Male, Female and Disabled Player of the Year

(via U.S. Soccer) – U.S. Soccer has announced the following nominees for U.S. Soccer Young Male, Young Female and Disabled Player of the Year.

Young Male Player of the Year are defenders Cameron Carter-Vickers and Matt Miazga and midfielders Emerson Hyndman, Christian Pulisic and Gedion Zalalem. The nomination is the second for both Hyndman and Pulisic, who were also nominated for the award in 2014.

Young Female Player of the Year nominees are midfielders Savannah DeMelo, Samantha Mewis and Brianna Pinto and forwards Mallory Pugh and Ashley Sanchez. This is the second and third-straight nomination for Mewis and Pugh, respectively.

Disabled Player of the Year nominees are Adam Ballou and Kevin Hensley of the U.S. Paralympic National Team and Nicolai Calabria and Noah Grove of the U.S. National Amputee Soccer Team.

Winners for each category will be announced Friday, Dec. 18.

Votes are collected from respective National Team coaches, National Team players who have earned a cap in 2015, American soccer league (MLS, NASL and NWSL) head coaches, select media members, former players and administrators. Players cannot win the Young Male or Young Female award more than once.

The award for Young Male and Young Female Player of the Year was first awarded in 1998 with Josh Wolff receiving and Cindy Parlow, winning for Young Male and Young Female, respectively. The Disabled Player of the Year first awarded in 2012 with Felicia Schroeder winning the honor.
