USWNT defender Emily Fox signs with Arsenal Women

U.S. Women’s National Team defender Emily Fox has signed with Arsenal Women, the club announced on Thursday.

Fox joins Arsenal following a stint in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) with the North Carolina Courage, where she played in 19 games. Prior to her time with the Courage, Fox spent her first two professional seasons with Racing Louisville FC, where she was selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft.

The 25-year-old made her senior debut for the USWNT in 2018 and has earned 39 caps for her country in total. She was part of the squads that won the CONCACAF Women’s Championship in 2022, as well as the SheBelieves Cup in 2022 and 2023. She also represented the USA at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, starting all four of their matches during the competition.

“It feels amazing to have signed here,” Fox said in the signing announcement posted on arsenal.com. “When I think of Arsenal, I think of excellence, I think of a global organisation, I think of family. I think of pushing the standards of football and especially in the women’s game. It’s a huge honour to get the opportunity to represent this club and I’m excited to get started and play in front of our supporters.”
