RICHMOND, Va. – (Via Richmond Kickers) – Richmond Kickers forward Matthew Delicâte has achieved a career milestone, notching his 100th goal on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 against the New England Revolution in the U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round at City Stadium.

“It feels great to make it to 100 goals in my professional career,” commented Delicâte. “More importantly, I know that when I’m scoring my team has a better chance to win and be successful. I have to thank my teammates around me for providing the service to enable me to put the ball in the back of the net.”

Recording 81 goals in 197 appearances over eight seasons in Richmond, the club’s all-time leading scorer also holds the franchise record in points with 181. Ranking second in USL PRO with nine goals during the regular season, he added his 10th goal of the 2014 campaign during the U.S. Open Cup this week.

A three-time All-League First Team honoree, Delicâte has been one of the most prolific goal scorers in the league since his professional debut in 2004. Spending the 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons with the Rochester Rhinos, he contributed 19 goals and seven assists before returning to Richmond in 2009. Leading the club to five Championship appearances, the native of Kent, England eclipsed the club’s scoring record in 2012.

The 2003 CAA Player of the Year, Delicâte holds the career record at Virginia Commonwealth University with 44 goals and 13 assists and is the first player to reach the century mark in career points (101).
