South Bronx United U-16 Boys win the Arch Capital Group Cup
(ENYYSA / Randy Vogt) – After losing to Terryville AC Milan, 8-3, in last year’s Arch Capital Group Cup final, South Bronx United SBU 98 of the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League (CJSL) rebounded with a 6-2 win over the North Shore Crush of the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) in the 2015 Boys-Under-16 final. This big match was played on June 13 at the Peter Collins Soccer Park in Plainview.
Jesus Muniz scored two goals while Evans Asamoah, Kevin Camacho, Derek Cordova and Abou Bacar Diaby each added one to pace South Bronx United.
“Our team was working better together this year than in last year’s final,” commented South Bronx United coach Daniel Vergara. “We didn’t drop our heads when they scored first. Toward the end of the game, we were finishing very well.”
North Shore received the Howard Rubenstein Sportsmanship Award for the Fair Play they demonstrated in the final. If the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) had a best-dressed award, South Bronx United would certainly win it since all their players arrived at the field in white dress shirts and ties.
