U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team defeats UAE 4-0 in opening Mondial Minimes match
The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team opened Group B play at the 40th Mondial Minimes tournament with a 4-0 win against United Arab Emirates in Montaigu, France.
The U.S. started strong, with Ahinga Selemani opening the scoring in the 23rd minute. Tyler Turner added a second goal in the 50th minute, along with Wesley Wade in the 71st minute. Bradford Jamieson wrapped up the game in the fourth minute of stoppage time with the fourth and final goal for the U.S.
The U.S. next faces Portugal at 6:15 p.m. local time (12:15 p.m. ET) on Thursday, April 5. Should the U.S. advance, the team will also play April 7 and 9.
Mondial Minimes is a 12-team tournament that features four groups of three teams each. Group A is made up of host France, Cameroon and Mexico. England, Morocco and Japan make up Group C, and Group D is comprised of Russia, Ivory Coast and China.
