Dev. Academy: Upset in North Texas showdown, Westchester downs Cosmos

FC Dallas pulled off a double this weekend, as both its Under-16s and U-18s took down the Dallas Texans in U.S. Soccer Development Academy play.

The FC Dallas U-16s scored a 2-1 win over the first-place Texans, getting on the board first with a Texans own goal, then taking a two-goal lead from Antonio Aguilar in the 68th minute.

The Texans got one back from Brandon Aubrey three minutes later, but could not get the equalizer, and fell to 14-2-4 in the Texas Division (18-2-7 overall) with the loss, though it still holds a six point lead on second place Solar Chelsea SC (11-2-7 division, 14-4-9 overall).

FC Dallas (10-3-8 division, 13-5-10 overall) is still in fourth with 38 points, though just one point behind Texans SC Houston (12-6-3 division, 16-8-4 overall)

In U-18 action, FC Dallas ran away from the Texans for a 4-1 win and has now scored 81 goals this season. FC Dallas is now 18-2-1 in the division and 22-3-3 overall.

In the Liberty Division, FC Westchester took two games from New York Cosmos Academy, with the U-16s winning 3-2 and the U-18s winning 1-0.

The U-16 matchup was tied going into the second half, with Tomas Penfold scoring twice in the first half for FC Westchester, while Yankuba Janneh and Gabriele Maurello scoring for NY Cosmos Academy. FC Westchester’s Cesar Ceja, however, scored what proved to be game winner in the 65th minute.

FC Westchester’s U-18s got their lone goal from Stephen Elias in the 60th minute.

In other Liberty Division action, Met Oval and Albertson SC U-16s played to a 2-2 tie, while Albertson SC took the U-18 matchup 4-1. PDA U-18s took a 1-0 win over New York Red Bulls, while the two teams’ U-16 sides tied 1-1.
