U.S. Club Soccer: National Premier Leagues Champions Cup, National Cup XI finals underway

More than 160 top teams from all across the United States are converging on Waukegan, Ill., where the National Premier Leagues (NPL) Champions Cup and National Cup XI Finals, U.S. Club Soccer’s pair of national championship events, are scheduled to kick off today at Waukegan Sports Park.

Culminating the inaugural NPL season is the NPL Champions Cup, which will feature league champions from across the nation in the U-13 through U-17/18 boys age groups. Five NPL championships will be up for grabs at the event, which will draw to a close on Tues., July 31.

The National Cup XI Finals include champions in the U-13 to U-17 boys and girls age groups from Regionals held across the country. The event will conclude on Mon., July 30 with a total of 20 championships to be awarded.

Four Virginia teams will be competing in the National Cup XI Finals – Team America SC 96 (Under-15 Boys), Roanoke Star Elite (U-16 Boys and U-17 Girls) and ABGC Samba (U-14 Girls).
