International Women’s Opportunity Foundation, FC Indiana team up for Haiti in partnership

International Women’s Opportunity Foundation (IWOF) and FC Indiana today kicked off a partnership to benefit girls and women of Haiti. The first beneficiaries will be vulnerable girls and women affected by poverty in Haiti capitol Port-au-Prince.

During the announcement ceremony, the club unveiled its 2013 jersey featuring the International Women’s Opportunity Foundation logo on the front.
Haiti is estimated to have the highest poverty rate in the western hemisphere and International Women’s Opportunity Foundation is spearheading the global campaign which aims to ensure that girls and women affected by the 2010 earthquake, poverty and lack of opportunities are an integral part of the global response.

“This partnership joining International Women’s Opportunity Foundation and FC Indiana will help push open a door of hope to thousands of girls and women,” said Sharon Yoder, International Women’s Opportunity Foundation Development Director, during the announcement of the new partnership in Indianapolis.

“At FC Indiana, we are aware of the increasing global dimension of women’s soccer. The increasing number of women’s soccer fans around the world in the last few years has been spectacular. The club has an obligation to respond to this enormous positive wave. The best way for us to do so is by using women’s soccer as a tool to bring hope to millions of girls and women in need around the world”, said Shek Borkowski GM of FC Indiana. “FC Indiana shows us that sports can be a powerful, positive force for girls and women around the world.”
