Miami signs nine new Hurricanes via transfer portal, adding 17 total newcomers for 2024

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer team will take the pitch in a few weeks for their first regular season match of the 2024 season.

The roster features numerous new faces as the Hurricanes welcomed 17 newcomers, including nine transfer student-athletes, to the program this offseason.

The transfer student-athletes hail from all across the country and even in the world in graduate student Dieynaba Ndaw’s case, as she was born in Dakar, Senegal.

Six of the nine transfers enter Miami as graduate students, while Zoe Shepherd joins the team as a junior and both Crosby Nicholson and Maddie Landers will start their sophomore year at Miami.

KYLA GALLAGHER
Forward // 5-7 // Graduate Student // Farmington, Conn. // Providence

Gallagher joins the Hurricanes after spending four seasons at Providence, where she played in 69 matches for the Friars, starting 44 of them.

The Farmington, Conn., native totaled 11 goals and 14 assists during her time at Providence, including four goals and five assists as a senior in 2023. As a senior, Gallagher earned a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.

TORI GRAMBO
Defender/Forward // 5-4 // Graduate Student // St. Johns, Fla. // Florida

A native of the Sunshine State, Grambo played for the Florida Gators for four years before transferring to Miami as a graduate student. The St. Johns, Fla., native started 22 of 38 games played for the Gators, missing the entire 2021 season due to offseason foot surgery.

Grambo recorded six points as a Gator (two goals, two assists) and recorded the game-winning goal against Georgia Southern in 2021. She was a four-year member of the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll and was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team in 2023.

GRACE HURREN
Midfielder/Forward // 5-8 // Graduate Student // Moorestown, N.J. // Columbia

Hurren comes to Miami after spending four years as a Columbia Lion. While at Columbia, Hurren started 41 of 44 games played, including all 19 games as a senior.

Hurren tallied three goals and three assists across threes season (2020 season cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic) and recorded the game-winning goal against NJIT in 2023. As a senior, Hurren played a crucial role in Columbia’s defensive effort that saw 10 shutouts in 2023.

GISSELLE KOZARSKI
Midfielder/Forward // 5-7 // Graduate Student // Cibolo, Texas // Texas Tech

A native of Cibolo, Texas, Kozarski played four seasons for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, appearing in 74 matches and starting 51 contests. Kozarski totaled 27 points as a Red Raider (eight goals, 11 assists), with 12 of the 27 points coming as a senior.

In 2023, Kozarski helped the Red Raiders to the program’s first Big 12 Conference regular season title after finishing 8-0-2 in conference action.

MADDIE LANDERS
Midfielder // 5-7 // Sophomore // North Andover, Mass. // Boston College

A familiar face in the ACC, Landers played her freshman season at Boston College before transferring to Miami ahead of the 2024 school year. Landers appeared in 13 matches for the Eagles, earning back-to-back starts against Michigan and Akron.

The midfielder recorded a shot on goal in three straight matches and played a season-high 77 minutes at Michigan.

HANNA MOORE
Defender // 5-8 // Graduate Student // Eagle Mountain, Utah // Iowa State

Moore spent the last two seasons at Iowa State where she played in 34 matches, starting 27 of them. The defender took seven shots during her two years as a Cyclone and recorded one assist in 34 matches.

Moore was a 2023 Academic All-Big 12 First Team member and a four-time Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll honoree. Prior to Iowa State, Moore played at Arkansas for two seasons.

DIEYNABA “JJ” NDAW
Forward // 5-6 // Graduate Student // Dakar, Senegal // Duke

Ndaw played three season at Duke before transferring to Miami for her final season of collegiate soccer. As a Blue Devil, Ndaw appeared in 22 games, starting three, and saw 344 minutes of action.

The forward scored on her first shot on goal, tallying the only goal in Duke’s 1-1 draw against Virginia in 2023. Ndaw is a three-year member of the ACC Honor Roll and was named to the 2023 All-ACC Academic Team.

CROSBY NICHOLSON
Midfielder // 5-11 // Sophomore // Palm Harbor, Fla. // Kansas State

Nicholson played her first year of collegiate at Kansas State where she appeared in 16 matches for the Wildcats, starting 10 of them. The midfielder attempted 10 shots, with two on goal, in 16 matches and played a career-high 86 minutes against Houston.

ZOE SHEPHERD
Forward // 5-6 // Junior // Novato, Calif. // Arkansas

Shepherd spent two seasons at Arkansas, playing in 18 games for the Razorbacks. The forward tallied her first collegiate goal in a 3-2 victory over Grand Canyon in 2023. In 2022, Shepherd was named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.

Miami opens the 2024 regular season at home on Aug. 15 against North Florida. The match is set to start at 6 p.m. at Cobb Stadium.
