SoccerWire is publishing Q&A articles with players who have Featured Profiles in the SoccerWire Recruiting Directory. The series allows players to share their stories on the college recruiting process, playing the game at the international level, travel and high school soccer, and their passion for the beautiful game.

In this edition we will showcase Ally Griswold, who plays travel soccer in the ECNL Girls for Arlington Soccer, and has verbally committed to play college soccer in 2026 at USC

SoccerWire: What made you decide to verbally commit to USC?
AG: I chose USC because of its amazing athletic and academic resources, it’s close location to so many things I love, and I have family in the area. The USC coaching staff is incredible. Coaches Jane, Sugar, Ahmed, and Megan are focused on player development and the team has a family culture I am looking forward to being part of!

SW: What was the recruiting process like and what did you learn about yourself while going through it?
AG: I learned a lot during my recruitment, especially to be honest with myself about what I did and didn’t like in a school. All of the coaches I spoke with this summer were amazing and made me feel very comfortable. I genuinely could see myself on all their teams, so it was important to really focus on my list of things I wanted in a college experience.

SW: How do you feel your strengths on the field will help the Trojans?
AG: I think my speed and physicality will be a great fit on the Trojans backline.

SW: What are your favorite subjects in school and what do you think you would like to study in college?
AG: My favorite subject in school has been math, although I’d love to study business or communications at USC.

SW: Outside of soccer, what clubs, organizations, and/or jobs are you involved in?
AG: I’m involved with my school’s Service Learning Program. I love helping out my community and those in need.

SW: What are your favorite pair of cleats that you have ever owned?
AG: My favorite cleats are the pair I’ve had 3 times because they were the only ones that didn’t give me blisters😂 : Nike Phantom GT Elite DF 3D SG Pro Reveal Pack

SW: What has your experience been like playing for Arlington Soccer so far?
AG: I’ve played at Arlington since 3rd grade and I’ve loved every second. The coaching staff is so supportive and welcoming. We train to win and always have positive mindsets!!

SW: If you could give one piece of advice to a younger player that wants to play at a high level what would it be?
AG: Trust the process and never give up! Always give your 100% effort at practice, games, and showcases. Hard work pays off and everything happens for a reason!

SW: Is there anyone that you would like to give a shoutout to who has helped you both on and off of the field?
AG: I couldn’t have done it without my Arlington teammates who have spent so many hours on the pitch together. All of my Arlington coaches have been incredible, but I would like to shoutout three in particular: Erin, Mo and Alexis for getting me where I am today!! I’d also like to thank the USC coaching staff for such an amazing recruiting process! Fight on✌️
