Day 2 of the US Youth Soccer Region IV Presidents Cup is in the books

SNOHOMISH, Wash. (Via US Youth Soccer) – The 2015 US Youth Soccer Region IV Presidents Cup continued its second day of play in Snohomish, Wash. with the Under-13 through Under-17 boys and girls age groups at Stocker Fields.

The tournament takes place June 10-14 and features 120 US Youth Soccer teams from US Youth Soccer Region IV (West) competing for a regional title, and a berth to the 2015 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup, July 9-12 in Overland Park, Kan.

The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup is designed for teams seeking additional challenges to play for a national title against teams of similar abilities. The cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.

Match Highlights:

Under-13 Girls:

In Group AFC Warriors (NV) defeated Idaho Rush Premier (ID) to take hold of first place thanks to a 12th minute goal from Quincy Bonds. South Bay Matrix Red (CA-S) took care of business against Manteca Rangers (CA-N) 4-0 when Denise Castro started the scoring off in the 8th minute followed by a goal from Aylette Cisneros and a pair of insurance goals from Savannah Delara.

Group B is taking a similar shape with Arizona Arsenal 02 Premier Black leading the way with six points followed by CISC Velocity (AK) and SMUFC (CA-S) tied for second with 1-1 records. Arizona Arsenal narrowly edged CISC with a 1-0 victory due to a second half goal from Vivian Roberts. SMUFC defeated Forza FC 02 South ML I (UT) 3-1 to grab its first points of the tournament. Forza’s Brittney Blake struck first, but Sadie Holts, Cara Conroy and Charlie Kayem all found the back of the net for SMUFC.

Under-14 Boys: 

The top two teams advancing out of Group A and Group B were decided today as all four day one winners took care of business again today to secure a spot in the quarterfinals. In Group A, FC Nova Black (ID) and Chelsea SC 00 Blue (CA-S) sit atop the group as FC Nova defeated America FC (CO) 4-1, and Chelsea SC notched a win over Fairbanks Rush 01 (AK) 3-1. FC Nova’s Alexander Singleton stole the show with a hat trick to go with Ryan Gamboa’s goal, while America FC’s goal came courtesy of Arcy Salgado-Rufferman. Chelsea SC’s Kyle Pearce began the scoring in the 17th minute, and Stephen Sweet doubled the lead just nine minutes later. Drew Rizk cut the lead back to one in the 62nd, but it was Sweet who soured Fairbanks Rush’s hopes to complete the comeback with his second goal in the 70th minute.

Group B features Players Elite AP (NV) and Gremio FC 00 EM (UT) both sporting 2-0 records. After a 9-1 victory yesterday, Players Elite had a little bit more difficulty against WFC Rangers (WA), but still remained undefeated with a 2-0 win. David Herrera scored 12 minutes into the game and Gabriel Sanchez added a late insurance goal in the 68thminute. Gremio FC has now earned two straight 4-1 wins after defeating Fort Lowell 01 Chivas (AZ) today. Like yesterday, Gremio had goals from four different players as Dylan Mccuskey, Paul Baltazar Vazquez, Rogelio Ceja and Erik Arroyo all found the back of the net, and Cesar Ozuna Ortega scored Fort Lowell’s goal.

Under-15 Girls:

Sand and Surf SC 99 Black, Real Colorado 99/00 Red and CV Crossfire 99 White (CA-N) all sit within one point of another after a day two that saw all 16 Group A goals come from different players. Real Colorado notched a 6-0 victory over ETFC 99 Athletica Red (OR) thanks to goals from Celia Jotte, Maisie Paulson, Jamelah Sawaged, Aeva Graber, Hanna Peterson and Hannah Carlson. Sand and Surf SC 99 Black (CA-S) earned a 4-1 win over CV Crossfire 99 White (CA-N). Brianna Flores and Shannon Blood scored for Sand and Surf in the first 15 minutes, but Cassandra Snow got Crossfire within one with a goal in the 29th minute. Sand and Surf added a pair of second half insurance goals from Katharine Rogerson and Catherine Campbell for the 4-1 victory.

Eastside FC 99 White (WA) stands alone atop of Group C thanks to a 6-1 win over LA Galaxy South Bay (CA-S) to make it two victories in as many days. Joelle Tudor netted a hat trick and was joined on the scoresheet by Marisa Mestichella, Chloe Young and Madeline Favour as well as Galaxy’s Florina Ravudra. Leahi 00 Premier (HI) joins Galaxy in second place after a 9-0 victory over Arizona Hammers 00 Blue (AZ).

Under-16 Boys:

Forza West 99 AB (UT) earned its second straight win after defeating Washington Premier FC 98 White (WA) 2-1 in a Group A match. WPFC’s Cameron Bowdish broke the scoreless stalemate in the 25th minute, but Forza’s Leonardo Sobreira tied things up in the 48th minute. A Washington Premier own goal ended up being the difference in the 62ndminute to break the tie and give Forza the 2-1 victory. Eagles Central Coast 98 (CA-S) moved into a tie with Washington Premier thanks to a dramatic comeback win against FC Nova Black (ID). Brian Lincks and Declan Dunn put FC Nova up 2-0, but Eagles responded with three goals in 12 minutes as Jose Hernandez Gomez, Hosanna Cassidy and Carlos Vazquez all scored to complete the comeback.

Rialto Fire put forth a promising performance with a 7-0 win over Oakdale United Gunners (CA-N) to take control of Group C. Jose Hernandez scored four goals for Rialto to go with a pair of goals from Erick Montalvo and another from Anthony Villanueva. Rogue Valley Timbers 98 Red (OR) and NSYSL Vegas United Limon (NV) battled to a 2-2 draw with all four goals coming in the span of 12 minutes. United’s Andres Santana began the scoring in the 44th minute, only for Collin Pinkerton to respond with goals in the 49th and 54th minute for Rogue Valley. Santana had his own response with his second goal just two minutes later, and neither team was able to get the edge afterwards as the match ended in a draw.

Under-17 Girls:

After both teams secured victories on day one, Washington Timbers 97 Green (WA) and Missfits Adrenaline (CA-N) played to a 1-1 draw. Alex Sanders of Timbers began the scoring in the 10th minute, only for Madison Matthews of Missfits to respond two minutes later. Goals were difficult to come by after that as neither team was able to break the tie. AZFC Select (AZ) rode Eliudth Gonzalez’s hat trick and a last minute goal from Laura Figueroa to defeat Freedom FC Blue (CA-S), who received goals from Natalia Magana, Demi Stwertnik and Danielle Lagrave.

In Group B, Forza FC 98 JR won its second straight game after a 2-1 win over Valley United Felman (CA-S) thanks to two goals in the final minutes from Amanda Lewis and Lydia Adams after Kaley Cottrell’s early goal for United. Rainier Valley Slammers 97 Orange (WA) beat PCU 97 Black (OR) 6-0 courtesy of Emilee Greve’s hat trick along with Nicole Edwards, Makenzie Sjoden and Olivia Williams.
