Championship matches decided at US Youth Soccer National President’s Cup

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (Via US Youth Soccer) – Championship matches are set after preliminary play concluded Saturday at the 2015 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup in Overland Park, Kan. Out of 40 teams participating in the event, 10 will be crowned in the Under-13 through Under-17 Boys and Girls age groups following Sunday’s final matches.

US Youth Soccer is excited to announce it is providing live coverage of all 10 National Presidents Cup finals. All live games will be available at no cost and in high definition, with commentators calling the action to further showcase the nation’s top athletes. The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup offers teams the challenge of experiencing different types of play by competing from state to regional to national levels. The Presidents Cup provides teams with a progressive, competitive experience that highlights competition, camaraderie and community.

Match Highlights:

Under-13 Girls: CSA Charlotte SA Torsion (NC) 2–1 North Union United 01 Lady Cannons (PA-E)
CSA Charlotte SA Torsion (NC) advances to the Under-13 Girls final after defeating North Union United 01 Lady Cannons (PA-E) 2-1 on the final day of preliminary play. CSA Charlotte took an early lead after Caileen Almedia scored in the 10^th minute. Mary Reese came to North Union’s aid in the 36^th minute and tied the match, but CSA Charlotte’s offense persisted and Kyleigh Von Klahr notched the game winner in the 48^th minute. CSA Charlotte will face SMUFC 01 (CA-S) in tomorrow’s championship match.

Under-14 Girls: Lonestar Red North (TX-S) 2–1 Souderton Stingers (PA-E)
Undefeated Lonestar Red North (TX-S) took the top of the standings and earned a spot in tomorrow’s U-14 Girls final after beating Souderton Stingers (PA-E) 2-1. Ashton Tomasino and Maria Fernanda Rico gave Lonestar a 2-0 lead in the match, scoring in the 12^th and 38^th minutes respectively. Although Alison Trick put Souderton on the board in the 59^th minute, Souderton could not find the equalizer making Lonestar victorious. The two teams will square off again in tomorrow’s championship match to determine who will take home the crown.

Under-15 Girls: FC Bolts (PA-E) 2-0 Greeneville Galaxy Select (TN)
FC Bolts (PA-E) got a 2-0 win against Greeneville Galaxy Select (TN). FC Bolts forward Cara McCausland opened the scoring in the 33^rd minute, and teammate Kyra Hardenberg obtained FC Bolts’ second goal in the 60^th minute. FC Bolts and Greeneville Galaxy will meet again in tomorrow’s Under-15 Girls consolation match.

Under-16 Girls: Crossfire Select 98 McLaughlin (WA) 2-1 Missouri Rush SC Nero-Menendez (MO)
Haimanot Hansen’s late game heroics helped Crossfire Select 98 McLaughlin (WA) advance to the Under-16 Girls final. Crossfire defeated Missouri Rush SC Nero-Menendez (MO) 2-1, despite a 1-0 deficit after a Missouri Rush goal in the 46^th minute by Jordan Crandall. Crossfire shifted the match when Natalie Vetto found the equalizer in the 65^th minute. With just a few minutes remaining until the final whistle, Crossfire used that momentum and got a second goal by Hansen who positioned herself strategically in the box for the game winner. Both teams will face off again in tomorrow’s championship match.

Under-17 Girls: CWSC United Red (OH-S) 0–0 Washington Timbers 97 Green (WA)
Tomorrow’s Under-17 Girls final will prove to be an exciting match after the results of today’s CWSC United Red (OH-S) and Washington Timbers 97 Green (WA) matchup. Both teams put in lots of effort today, but after 90 minutes of regulation, the match concluded in a 0-0 score. Both sides will meet again tomorrow to determine a champion. CWSC earned five points after a win and two ties, and Washington took the top of the standings with seven points, after two wins and a tie. As each team has yet to lose in the tournament, tomorrow’s match is sure to be a thrilling one.

Under-13 Boys: CFJ West 01/02 Red (IL) 2–1 Anaheim FC 01 (CA-S)
A strong second half performance gave CFJ West 01/02 Red (IL) a 2–1 win versus Anaheim FC 01 (CA-S). Blake Brandenburg and Aaron Sanchez scored back-to-back goals in the 47^th and 50^th minutes to give CJF West a 2-0 lead. Anaheim FC’s Diego Useda scored in the 57^th minute, but the two goal advantage gave CFJ West a spot intomorrow’s Under-13 Boys final versus Bonita Storm (FL).

Under-14 Boys: Players Elite AP (NV) 3-0 FC Pride 01 Elite (IN)
Tomorrow’s Under-14 Boys final will see Players Elite AP (NV) and FC Pride 01 Elite (IN) face each other again in a rematch of today’s third preliminary game. Players Elite obtained a 3-0 shutout today with two first half goals by Sergie Delgado and Joel Gutierrez, and one second half goal by Anthony Kaskie. Players Elite goes into tomorrow’smatch with a perfect 3-0-0 record and zero goals against them.

Under-15 Boys: Olney Rangers White (MD) 2-0 WCWAA Black (NC)
Olney Rangers White (MD) defeated WCWAA Black (NC) 2-0 in their last round robin match. Justin Rabon put Olney on the board early on in the 7^th minute after shooting far post and finding the back of the net. In the 60^thminute, Olney’s offense crossed a ball straight to Ronald Little who tapped it in for the 2-0 win. Both teams will face off again in tomorrow’s Under-15 Boys consolation match.

Under-16 Boys: VSA Heat 98 Blue (VA) 3-0 FCT Scorpio (FL)
VSA Heat 98 Blue (VA) got a 3-0 shutout against FCT Scorpio (FL) to advance to the Under-16 Boys final. VSA’s Enrique Mejia got a pair of goals in the 4^th and 43^rd minutes, and Reece Cooke also contributed to the win with a 28^th minute goal. The win put VSA Heat at the top of the standings and they will face PacNW 98 Blue (WA) intomorrow’s championship match.

Under-17 Boys: Legacy FC (CA-S) 7-0 SASA Spirits (IL)
Legacy FC (CA-S) concluded preliminary play with a strong 7-0 performance versus SASA Spirits (IL). Legacy dominated the match, setting the pace with three first half goals – an opening goal by Jayson Gomez and a pair of Joel Rosales goals. The second half continued with goals by Jose Iniguez, Alexis Nuno, Tomas Ramos and Christopher Peralta. The results helped Legacy FC advance to tomorrow’s Under-17 Boys final where they will face ASA Black Hawks (MD).
