U.S. U-17 MNT earns 1-1 draw vs. Slovakia at Vaclav Jezek Tournament

SVITAVY, Czech Republic (Via U.S. Soccer) – The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team wrapped up group play at the Vaclav Jezek Tournament with a 1-1 draw against Slovakia.

Slovakia got off to the better start, going on the attack early and converting for the game’s opening goal in the 30th minute. The U.S. response was strong, as the team fortified its defensive efforts and countered with well-structured attacks of its own. In the 70th minute, a foul against the U-17’s set up with a free kick from 35 yards out. Christian Pulisic lined up to take it and whipped a strong cross into the box. Center back Auston Trusty out-jumped the Slovakia defenders and headed in for the game tying goal.

With the draw, the U-17’s group record moves to 0-1-2 in the tournament. The team advances on to play Ukraine on Saturday, Aug. 22.
