Schedule set for 2016 CONCACAF U-17 Women’s Championship
CHICAGO (Via U.S. Soccer) – The Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) has conducted the final draw for the upcoming 2016 CONCACAF Under-17 Women’s Championship, and the United States will face Mexico, Jamaica and Costa Rica in Group B play.
The draw, which was conducted in St. George’s, Grenada, the host city for the tournament, also placed host Grenada, Guatemala, Canada and Haiti in Group A.
The tournament will take place from March 3-13 at two stadiums, the Grenada National Stadium and the Grenada Athletic Stadium. The USA opens the competition on March 4 against Jamaica, will face Mexico on March 6 and finish group play against Costa Rica on March 8.

The eight nation tournament will feature two groups of four teams each and will send three countries to the 2016 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup to be held from Sept. 30-October 21 in Jordan. After round-robin play within the groups, the top two finishers in each group will cross-over for the semifinals with the winners of those games, along the winner of the third-place match, earning berths to the World Cup.
The USA’s first two group games kick off at 3:30 p.m. local time/2:30 p.m. ET, while the final group game begins at 1 p.m. local time/12 p.m. ET. The semifinal matches take place March 11 and the Championship and Third-Place Match on March 13.
Just three teams have qualified for the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup so far, host Jordan and Japan and Korea DPR, which earned their berths by reaching the Final AFC U-16 Women’s Championship during November of 2015 in China PR. The remaining 13 nations will qualify over the course of this year.
