FC Dallas Academy U-18s take over first place in USSDA Frontier Div.

(Via FC Dallas / Daniel Robertson) – Neither rain nor sleet nor snow could stop the FC Dallas Academy in Colorado this weekend.

There was plenty on the line for both the U-18s and the U-16s and they came away with 12 points from four matches.

The red-hot U-18s took back first place in the USSDA Frontier Division with just three matches left, defeating Real Colorado 4-0 on Saturday and Colorado Rush 3-1 on Sunday morning. These were not any normal matches, however, as more than four inches of snow fell in Denver over the weekend creating some challenging conditions that they rose above.

“I’m very proud of the group and proud of the boys,” said U-18 head coach Francisco Molina. “They were prepared under the conditions that we played in, snow, wind and ice. We took over the games and I’m very proud of the way the boys played. They finished off the game well, showed great fitness and everyone did a great job.”

Six points from two matches, coupled with a Houston Dynamo U-18 loss, mean that the U-18s are now above Houston on PPG in the standings with three games left. Irvin Dominguez, Gustavo Lopez, Devin Vega and Toshiki Yasuda scored in a 4-0 win over Real Colorado while Lopez, Yasuda and Weston McKinnie scored in the second game.
