U.S. U-19 Women’s National Team defeats New Zealand U-20s 4-1

AUCKLAND, New Zealand (Via U.S. Soccer) – After playing to a wild 4-4 draw with the New Zealand U-20 Women’s National Team on June 17, the U.S. Under-19 Women’s National Team scored four goals once again in the rematch, but this time allowed just one to win 4-1 and go unbeaten in all three of its games in New Zealand.

The USA opened the trip with a 2-1 victory on June 14 against the full New Zealand Women’s National Team featuring a mixture of potential Olympic Team players and younger players.

Shannon Horgan opening the scoring in the 27th minute, scoring from the top of the penalty box and it stayed 1-0 into halftime.

The USA explode for three goals in a 20-minute span in the second half to put the game out of reach before the Kiwis picked up a consolation goal in the 80th minute.

Ella Stevens, who assisted on the first goal, doubled the USA’s lead four minutes into the second half, volleying home a cross from Shannon Simon.

Simon then made it 3-0 in the 63rd minute and Cyera Hintzen finished it off in the 69th minute as the USA perfectly executed a short corner kick. Simon, who had a goal and two assists, played a cross through the mouth of the goal on the ground for Hintzen to finish first-time.
