DALLAS, Texas (Via Dallas Cup) – The Dr Pepper Dallas Cup has announced the participation of CD Guadalajara in the 38th edition of the world-renowned tournament.

Universally known as Chivas, Mexico’s most popular team will be playing in the Gordon Jago Super Group for the first time since 2014. Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXXVIII will take place from April 9 through April 16, 2017.

Chivas has done well in previous Dallas Cups, having won seven “Boot and Ball” championship trophies across all age groups since 1998. Their first tournament appearance came in 1990 in Dallas Cup XI. They last won a championship in 2008, but the prestigious club is still seeking their first Gordon Jago Super Group title.

Guadalajara has a successful history of supplying the Mexican National teams with star players. Mexican National Team standouts and Dallas Cup alumni Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez and Omar Bravo are both products of the Chivas Academy.

CD Guadalajara rounds out a strong 2017 Gordon Jago Super Group which includes teams from seven countries and four continents. The elite bracket features one of the world’s top ranked academies (Manchester United), four former Gordon Jago Super Group champions (Everton, Tigres, Eintracht Frankfurt, Coritiba), the all-time leader in “Boot and Ball” championship trophies (CF Monterrey), the defending U.S. Soccer Development Academy champions (FC Dallas), and two Dallas Cup debutants (Macabbi Haifa, Red Bull Brasil). The Gordon Jago Super Group brackets and schedule will be announced soon.
