(Via Loudoun Soccer) – Loudoun Soccer Club hosted its 8th annual College Showcase tournament over the weekend, setting a new record for the event with 240 accepted elite level youth teams. The 2019 event featured clubs from as far as Ohio and Wisconsin, as the showcase has grown from a local 20-team event in its inaugural year.
Despite adverse weather conditions, top-quality soccer was on display from March 1-3, as premier boys and girls teams looked to make an impression at the college level. Approximately 100 college coaches made the trip to the Northern Virginia area from highly-regarded athletic institutions.
David Bucciero, Loudoun Soccer’s College Showcase Director and Head of College Placement said of the event: “Our 2019 Loudoun Soccer College Showcase was another huge success. We had our largest pool of applications ever and our standard of play continues to be strong with ECNL, NPL, and CCL clubs all participating this year. Despite the challenges of inclement weather, close to 100 college coaches came out to evaluate players. I am excited to see our Showcase continue to grow and evolve in the years ahead.”
With the large pool of teams came an equally impressive talent pool; brackets in the U17 and U18 girls age groups and in the U18 and U19 boys age groups garnered particular attention for their high caliber teams. Results for these brackets are listed below and full results from the tournament can be found here.

Loudoun Soccer has consistently prided itself on encouraging players to excel on and off the field with regards to further education as part of its mission to “develop champions for life.” The College Showcase complements other college initiatives run by the club throughout the year, such as a College ID Camp and college information evenings for players and their families. As a result of these efforts to educate players on their options after high-school, Loudoun Soccer is proud to have had many players commit to playing soccer at prestigious institutions year-after-year.
In addition to providing players with opportunities to showcase their talent in front of college coaches, the club runs a scholarship fund to assist players in furthering their education. 2018 saw recipients attend schools such as the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, and James Madison University.
As soccer continues to develop in the region with the inaugural season of D.C. United professional affiliate Loudoun United FC approaching, the club anticipates the growth of its College Showcase in the coming years.
