The U-18/19 quarterfinals played out Monday in the U.S. Soccer Boys Development Academy Playoffs, setting the stage for the semifinals.

MLS academies FC Dallas and New York City FC, USL academy side Saint Louis FC and Chicago-based Sockers FC secured the four semifinal spots in the DA’s oldest age group.

See below for a rundown of the quarterfinals action:

FC Dallas 2, Michigan Wolves 0

In a hard-fought defensive battle, FC Dallas and Michigan Wolves played 66 minutes of scoreless soccer until FCD found what proved to be the game-winner.

Following a scoreless first half, the FC Dallas attack broke through in the second half with goals from Tanner Tessman (67’) and Beni Redzic(79’).

Goalkeeper Michael Collodi combined with the FC Dallas back line to complete the clean sheet, holding a potent Michigan Wolves offense in check.

Saint Louis FC 3, Sporting Kansas City 1

Things were looking good for Sporting Kansas City at halftime of their quarterfinal match against neighboring club Saint Louis FC, as they took a 1-0 lead into the intermission.

Jahon Rad (19’) put Sporting KC on top early, but Saint Louis FC exploded for three unanswered goals in the second half. Nikiphoros Vlastos (60’), Joey Maher (63’) and Jeremiah Collins (90’) provided the scoring for Saint Louis as the Boys DA newcomers earned their first-ever semifinals berth.

New York City FC 4, Crossfire Premier 1

Reigning Boys DA national champion NYCFC Academy steamrolled their way to a 4-1 quarterfinal victory over Crossfire Premier, keeping their hopes of a repeat alive.

Four different players – Joao Victor Souza (14’), David Alino (60’), Andres Jasson (85’) and Jonathan Jiminez (87’) – found the net for NYCFC in a dominant offensive performance.

Sockers FC 1, Seattle Sounders FC 1

(Sockers FC wins PK shootout, 5-4)

Monday’s quarterfinal battle between Sockers FC and Seattle Sounders FC came down to penalty kicks after a 1-1 stalemate through regulation and overtime.

Tough defense by both sides dominated the majority of the game, as it took over an hour for either side to find the net. Leo Burney (63’) put Seattle ahead in the second half, but Cade Hagan (78’) equalized for Sockers 15 minutes later.

Fittingly, the PK shootout also came down to the wire, as Sockers won 5-4.
