2019 NCAA DI women’s soccer tournament: Schedule, scores, how to watch

SEMIFINALS (Friday, Dec. 6) — at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, California

CHAMPIONSHIP (Sunday, Dec. 8)

  • 8:30 p.m. ET (at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, California)

Quarterfinal Recaps:

  • No. 2 UCLA 4, No. 1 Florida State 0
    • UCLA dealt the defending College Cup champions their first post-season home loss in 10 years and did it in dominating fashion. Florida State, a team that typically controls possession through pragmatic passes and contained tempo, was stymied early in the match when the Bruins scored their first goal just seven minutes into the match. UCLA continued their blitz of the Seminoles adding two more tallies to the scoreboard in the first half, and another in the second. Chloe Castaneda and Mia Fishel both lead the way for the Bruins with two goals apiece. Here’s the complete box score and play-by-play breakdown from that game.
  • No. 1 Stanford 5, No. 2 BYU 1
    • BYU was rolling coming to the Bay Area, undefeated and on an 11-game winning streak, including winning the West Coast Conference and outscoring their opponents 49-5. That was until they met a speed bump in Stanford’s women’s soccer team. The Cardinal jumped out to a quick lead, going up 4-0 in the first half with two goals from their sensational forward and defending MAC Hermann award winner Catarina Macario. They tacked on another one in the second half and held off BYU only allowing one goal all match. Here’s the complete box score and play-by-play breakdown from that game.
  • No. 1 North Carolina 3, No. 2 Southern California 2
    • North Carolina and Southern Cal went back and forth throughout the match, but the Tar Heels battled back and are now in a position they are very familiar with — a spot in the College Cup. It didn’t come easy for Anson Dorrance’s squad though, as UNC had to come back from a 1-0 deficit. The Trojans opened up the scoring at about the 17-minute mark when Penelope Hocking blasted one past Carolina goalkeeper Claudia Dickey. UNC responded with a first half goal of their own, as Emily Fox put on a show and buried an unassisted goal in the bottom left corner of the net. In the second half Brianna Pinto scored for Carolina and Natalie Jacobs notched one for USC, but it was the play of freshman Maycee Bell and her head that put the Tar Heels in the College Cup. Here’s the complete box score and play-by-play breakdown from that game.
  • Washington State 1, No. 2 South Carolina 0 (OT)
    • It took a little extra time, but Washington State was able to notch another upset in their run to the College Cup. The Cougars are the third Pac-12 team to make the semifinals thanks to a golden goal from Mykiaa Minniss. The match was all defense, something South Carolina is familiar with, as it emerged as the strongest defensive and overall team out of the SEC. Offensively the game was locked even all night long as each team had 15 shots on the night, but Washington State put in the one that counted.  Here’s the complete box score and play-by-play breakdown from that game.
