Duke women’s soccer announces 3rd-ranked recruiting class
DURHAM, N.C. – Another one of the nation’s top recruiting classes will be calling Durham home, as Duke women’s soccer head coach Robbie Church announced the addition of the nation’s third-ranked recruiting class for the 2020 season.
“We’re very excited to have these six student-athletes join our women’s soccer program,” Church said. “They are very unique and they fill our requirements that we look for in players. They are fantastic young people, they’re very good students and they’re very good soccer players.”
This is the ninth-straight year that the Blue Devils have reeled in a top-10 recruiting class. Each player of the six-member squad is ranked in TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Top 150, including five players inside the top 50. The six Top 150 players mark the second consecutive year that the Blue Devils have signed six top-150 recruits.
Duke’s class of 2024 is headlined by the nation’s 16th-ranked player in defender Emily Royson. Joining Royson inside the top-50 is 17th-ranked Grace Watkins, 26th-ranked Olivia Migli, 37th-ranked Katherine Groff and 40th-ranked Margaret Graham, while Nicole Chico rounds out the Blue Devil recruiting class at No. 125 in the nation.
“They’re going to fit in well with our returning players next year,” Church added. “We’ll go from what we had as one of our thinnest teams this year to a team with a great deal of depth next year. We think each of them have the chance to make an immediate impact in our program and we’re excited that they will be joining us in August 2020.”
Each of Duke’s signees will be featured in-depth over the next seven weeks on GoDuke.com.
