San Jose State women’s soccer announces promotion of Tina Estrada to associate head coach

SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose State women’s soccer assistant coach Tina Estrada has been elevated to the level of associate head coach. Head coach Lauren Hanson made the announcement.

“Tina is the whole package when it comes to top level assistants and I want to keep her here helping to continue to build our program and reach our future goals,” Hanson said. “She is a fantastic teacher of the game, has an incredible eye for talent in recruiting and is a wonderful role model for our student athletes.  I am excited for her in this next phase of her career as Associate Head Coach here at San Jose State.”

Estrada first joined the Spartans in January 2018. In her time on staff, she has helped lead the Spartans to two Mountain West Championship Tournaments, the 2018 MW Championship title and the program’s third-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Eight Spartans have earned all-conference honors in her two seasons and three have garnered all-region accolades.

Prior to 2018, Estrada held the role of associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Saint Mary’s. In 2015, she was named the National Soccer Coaches Association of American National Assistant Coach of the Year.

A native of Fremont, Estrada was a four-year star at Santa Clara where she guided the Broncos to four consecutive WCC titles and NCAA Tournaments.

“I’m humbled and want to thank Lauren Hanson, Marie Tuite and Blake Sasaki for this promotion,” Estrada said. “Our staff, players and department support are incredible and I’m honored to help with its continuous success. The family environment that Lauren has built within the program makes me proud to call SJSU home.”
