Boise State women’s soccer signs Sophia Roberts as transfer from Grand Canyon University

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State women’s soccer head coach Jim Thomas announced the addition of Sophia Roberts, a sophomore from Grand Canyon University. Roberts is the sixth transfer the Broncos have inked this offseason.

Roberts made 14 starts for the Antelopes in 15 appearances and logged over 1,000 minutes during her freshman campaign. She recorded her first career goal in a match against UC Santa Barbara.

The addition of Roberts with help to reinforce a Bronco attacking group which lost five of its six starters from 2019.

A native of Albuquerque, N.M., Roberts played club soccer for the Rio Rapids and helped lead the team to a US Club Soccer National Cup Championship in 2018. Additionally, she played high school soccer at Eldorado High School during which the Eagles were the state runner-up in 2015. In 2016, Roberts was named to the 6A All-District Second Team and earned an all-state honorable mention. The following year she garnered 6A All-District First Team accolades and was an all-state second team member after leading her team in scoring as a captain.

In addition to being named to 6A All-District First Team, all-state first team and all-metro first team, Roberts was also named district player of the year her senior season.

Roberts will join a Bronco squad looking to defend back-to-back regular-season championships.
