Inter Miami goalkeeper Drake Callender replaces Jonathan Klinsmann at U-23 USMNT camp
CHICAGO — Inter Miami CF goalkeeper Drake Callender has been added to the U-23 USMNT training camp roster in Guadalajara, Mexico ahead of this month’s Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship. He replaces Jonathan Klinsmann, who has been diagnosed with a concussion.
Klinsmann suffered the injury during team practice and was immediately entered into the concussion protocol.
Callender was named to the USA’s provisional roster for Olympic qualifying earlier this month. The 6-3 goalkeeper played four years at the University of California, Berkeley from 2016-19, earning All-Pac 12 honors during his final three seasons with the Golden Bears. A product of the San Jose Earthquakes academy, Callender joined Inter Miami CF in Nov. 2019.
