Solar SC and Crossfire Premier teams win titles at Dallas Cup Girls Invitational

DALLAS, Texas – The inaugural Dallas Cup Girls Invitational wrapped up on Thursday at Toyota Stadium with champions being crowned in the newly-formed girls Under 16 through Under 19 age groups. All championship matches were aired live on ESPN3.

Solar SC teams won the U16, U17 and U18 championships while Crossfire Premier captured the U19 title.

The Under 16 girls final was a clash between D’Feeters Kicks Soccer Club ECNL U16 and Solar U15 ECNL. On an early corner kick, Vivian Geesbreght scored the first goal of the day for Solar in the 10th minute. Throughout much of the game, DKSC had an edge in possession creating several attacking opportunities, but in the end, they were unable to find the equalizer. Solar’s Emeri Adames scored a second goal in stoppage time with a beautiful left-footed strike from outside the box to put the game out of reach. The final whistle blew with Solar U15 ECNL up 2-0 as the local side was crowned the first Dallas Cup Girls Invitational presented by Mary Kay Under 16 champion.

The Under 17 final kicked off next with Solar ECNL 04 squaring off against FC Dallas ECNL U17. In the 8th minute, Solar’s Tyler Isgrig was fouled in the box resulting in a penalty shot. Sydney Becerra calmly stepped up to the mark and slotted away the first goal of the game for Solar. In the 37th minute, Solar’s Zoe Calyer cleaned up a bouncing ball in the box and tucked away the second goal of the game. In the second half, Jaedyn Shaw bagged a pair of goals of her own in the 61st and 63rd minute helping Solar 04 FDL cruise to a 4-0 win and the Dallas Cup Girls Invitational Under 17 title.

The third match of the day was the Under 18 girls final between FC Dallas 03 West Red and Solar 04 FDL. It was not until the 54th minute that Solar had their breakthrough in the match. Delaney Daly swung a perfect ball in from a corner kick that landed on the foot of Kalista Hough who put the ball in the back of the net. In the 60th minute, Hough scored her brace as Solar once again broke down the FC Dallas West Red defense. Just three minutes later, Amelia Leggett added a goal of her own to put Solar ahead 3-0. Solar held onto the lead on their way to being named Under 18 champions.
