Indiana women’s soccer signs Michigan State transfer Paige Webber

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women’s soccer head coach Erwin van Bennekom announced the addition of Michigan State transfer Paige Webber. The rising junior will have three years of eligibility remaining, beginning with the fall 2021 season.

“We are very excited to welcome Michigan State transfer Paige Webber into our program”, van Bennekom said. “We had a very specific vision on what type of player and the specific qualities we wanted to add this off-season, and Paige is the perfect fit for us on and off the field. We just got better.”

In the 2020-21 season, Webber earned six consecutive starts to begin the year and scored one goal against the Michigan Wolverines. In 2019, Webber helped lead the Spartans’ attack as she started in 19 consecutive matches and ranked second on the team in goals (6) and points (14). She also tallied two gamewinners.

Webber is a native of Grand Blanc, Michigan where she graduated from Grand Blanc High School. She was a three-year varsity letter winner and was named the 2018 Gatorade Player of the Year and a Ms. Soccer finalist. Webber also played for the Nationals club team, where she led the team to a 2017 State, Regional and National Championship. In addition, the team was the 2018 US Academy National Runner-up.

AT MICHIGAN STATE

2019: Earned 19 consecutive starts … Was the only freshman to start in every game … Second on the team in points (14), goals (6) and game-winning goals (2) … Had points in two straight games (Two goals and one assist on 9/12-15) … Had one shot on goal vs. Utah Valley (8/22) … Tallied her first career point vs. Marshall with an assist on one of Wahlberg’s goals (8/25) … Scored her first collegiate goal vs. BU to force overtime with five minutes remaining in the game (9/1) … Had three shots vs. Detroit Mercy (9/8) … Score the game-tying goal to force overtime with Bowling Green (9/12) … Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on 9/17 after scoring the game-winner and tallying an assist in the 2-0 victory at Oakland (9/15) … Scored her second game-winning goal in the team’s 2-0 shutout over Purdue (9/29) … Had a shot at Minnesota (10/3) … Netted her fifth of the season at Northwestern (10/11) … Scored the game-tying goal against No. 16 Michigan (10/19) … Played a season-high 90 minutes against Maryland (10/24) … Recorded shots in the last three games (10/24-30).
