University of Memphis men’s soccer team reveals 16-player signing class
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis men’s soccer team announced the signing of 16 student-athletes as part of the 2021 signing class. The group includes eight college transfers, five high schoolers and three internationals, as Memphis adds a plethora of top-level experience as well as youth for the 2021 season.
“First off, I want to thank Tony and Norris for working tirelessly in helping bring this group together,” said head coach Richard Mulrooney. “Being limited on how we could recruit due to the pandemic along with having a 10-game season this spring, the challenges have been there in preparing for a fall season that is 3 months away.”
“I feel as though we were able to navigate this recruiting year as best we could and I couldn’t be happier about the players we have coming in to represent the University of Memphis men’s soccer team,” Mulrooney continued. “We have a foundation here with our current players and it was a matter of finding the right pieces to fill the spots that we needed to improve upon so that we can compete for a conference championship if not more. We believe this group will come in right away and bring competition for starting spots as well bring a competitive balance each and every day to practice.”
