ECNL Boys National Playoffs Day 2: Dallas Texans U14 squad gets big win

The biggest stages bring out the best in players. When there’s so much on the line, players will rise to the occasion, with bigger than live outings, doing whatever it takes to get a win.

At the ECNL Boys National Playoffs in San Diego, Sunday afternoon saw Rodrigo Argumedo play one of those games.

Playing for the Dallas Texans U14 squad, Argumedo single-handily earned the team a victory, registering his first-career playoff hat-trick. Argumedo was able to beat the WNY Flash goalkeeper three times, finishing passes from his teammates and doing it himself as well.

His hat-trick included an incredible bicycle kick to ice the win for the boys from Texas, solidifying the 3-0 victory.

“As a team, we’re happy to be here competing at the ECNL National Playoffs,” Argumedo said. “But this is just the beginning. We have so much to do and accomplish here.”

Head Coach Hassan Nazari echoed Argumedo’s statement, believing his team showed up to play today and made sure to kick off the event in a strong manner.

“I’m very happy with the result today,” Nazari said. “Winning a game 3-0, that’s what we came here to do. Definitely happy with the result, but now we turn our attention to the next game in our group play.

Argumedo’s heroics will be remembered by his team for a long time, but at the same time, it’s just one game, and Dallas Texans needs to continue garnering positive results such as this one to earn a spot in the knockout round to continue chasing the ECNL Boys National Championship trophy.

Their next test will be against Mustang SC Monday afternoon, which will be just another step toward the chase for the trophy.
