Creighton women’s soccer signs English standout Matilda Thomas

OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton University women’s soccer 2023 signing class has grown to 11, as head coach Ross Paule announced the signing of Matilda “Tilly” Thomas.

Originally from England, Thomas comes to Creighton after guiding her Southampton FC U23 squad to the 2022-23 FA Women’s National League title. Prior to her stop with Southampton FC, the midfielder spent two seasons with the Chelsea FC WSL Academy, where she helped her team earn the FA Women’s U21 Super League South Division title during the 2021-22 season.

Early in her career, Thomas made her debut and served as a captain for the U16 Southampton FC Academy team that won the FA Southern Division championship and finished as the runner-up at the U16 FA Youth Cup. Thomas also participated in numerous regional and national England camps at the youth level.

“Tilly is a great addition to our team,” said Paule. “She has the quality, work ethic and character to have an immediate impact and she has a high ceiling to grow into in her time here at Creighton.”

Thomas joins the 2023 signing class of Keaton Coad (Olathe, Kan.), Kelly Flores (Hanover Park, Ill.), Anja Jestrovic (Serbia), Tejia Murray-Powell (Pickering, Ontario, Canada), Kendal Radke (Overland Park, Kan.), Maia Sirota (Raanana, Israel), Shani Sirota (Raanana, Israel), Savanna Solomon (Papillion, Neb.) and Andrine Westlie (Sandvika, Norway).
