Potomac Soccer Association accepted as new ECNL Boys member club
RICHMOND, Va. – The ECNL Boys announced the addition of Potomac Soccer Association to the Northeast Conference for the 2023-24 season.
Potomac’s addition to the ECNL Boys comes in the midst of a wave of moves in the past several weeks that has seen multiple clubs promoted to the ECNL through competitive performance as well as the formation of several new ECNL Regional Leagues around the country.
Based out of Montgomery County, Maryland, Potomac is consistently ranked as one of the top youth soccer clubs in the greater Washington D.C. area and across the region. The club has won multiple US Youth Soccer State and East Regional Championships, and has finished as a USYS national finalist, among other competitive accomplishments.
This season, Potomac’s 05 and 08 sides have already earned qualification to the US Youth Soccer National Championship in Orlando after finishing in first place in their National League P.R.O. divisions. In addition, Potomac has three teams currently sitting in first place in their EDP Divisions and multiple teams who have advanced in Maryland State Cup play.
“We are absolutely thrilled and honored to be selected as a member of the ECNL Boys program,” said Potomac’s new ECNL Director Brian Wall. “The ECNL Boys is the nation’s top youth soccer development platform for elite boys soccer players. Competing in the highest level of ECNL will enable our soccer club to take a massive step forward in achieving our club’s mission to provide soccer programs and opportunities for our coaches and players to reach their maximum potential.”
Along with Potomac joining the Northeast Conference, current Maryland clubs, Baltimore Celtic, Maryland United, and Pipeline SC will all be moving from the Mid-Atlantic Conference to the Northeast Conference in a realignment move for the 2023-24 season.
“It is an exciting time for our soccer club and we look forward to our players being tested on a regular basis against some of the best boys youth soccer players in the country,” Wall continued. “We are excited to be working with other ECNL clubs and we look forward to making the league proud of what our players and teams do on and off the field.”
