Alex Ng promoted to recruiting coordinator for Maryland women’s soccer
COLLEGE PARK, MD – Entering the 2023 season, University of Maryland women’s soccer head coach Meghan Ryan Nemzer has announced the promotion of Alex Ng to recruiting coordinator.
“Alex has made a huge impact on the program in just a short amount of time during his time at College Park,” said Nemzer. “He strives to get better every single day and I am lucky and excited to elevate him to the Recruiting Coordinator. He will continue to lead and organize our identification process with future Terps!”
Ng is entering his second year on staff at Maryland in the 2023 season. The Terps are coming off of their most successful season since 2019, achieving several milestones including Maryland’s highest finish in the Big Ten in four years, the most Big Ten wins since 2019 and the program’s first-ever victory over Michigan. Ng has played a crucial role in putting together the top 2023 class in the Big Ten, composed of over 20 newcomers.
Prior to Maryland, he was on staff at Richmond for two seasons where he led lead Richmond to a six-win improvement in 2021, as the Spiders secured seven wins and advanced to their first Atlantic 10 Tournament appearance in seven years. Richmond finished the season with the program’s most conference wins since 2011, and all five of those wins came by way of a shutout, which is also the most conference shutouts since 2011.
This past fall, Ng was named to the United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Program, one of just 17 college coaches across the sport to make the list.
He also serves as a Network Talent ID Scout with US Soccer and also attends National Events and local club matches in the DMV area to identify, evaluate and recommend female players for the United States Youth National Teams. Ng is a Youth National Team Coach for Local and Regional Identification Centers and Mini-Camps and also assists in managing the local depth charts for the u14-u19 age groups for the Youth National Team.
