ACC Women’s Soccer Bracket: Four teams competing in opening round

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The bracket and seeds for the 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Championship are set.

After finishing the regular season unbeaten, Florida State earned the No. 1 seed and looks to claim its fourth-straight ACC title. The Seminoles closed the year with a 9-0-1 league record and 28 points and enter the postseason outscoring their opponents 16-3 in their last four matches.

Notre Dame earned the No. 2 seed following a 2-0 home victory over Clemson in its regular-season finale. With their win, the Fighting Irish finished the year with a 7-1-2 ACC record and 23 points, edging the Tigers by a point. Both Florida State and Notre Dame will earn byes into the semifinal round.

Clemson will be the No. 3 seed finishing with 22 points and a 7-2-1 league mark. The Tigers will welcome No. 6 seed Wake Forest for their first-round matchup, as the Demon Deacons won their way into the postseason with a 2-0 victory at Miami to end the regular season. Sunday’s kickoff from Historic Riggs Field is set for 6 p.m.

North Carolina closed its conference schedule without a loss but settled for a program record five league ties and 19 points to earn the No. 4 seed. The Tar Heels will play host to Pitt in their first-round contest after the Panthers snapped a two-match skid with a 2-1 victory over Virginia Tech in Thursday’s finale. North Carolina and Pitt will play the nightcap in Sunday’s first round, as kickoff is set for 8 p.m.

The first round and semifinals will air live on ACC Network and the final on Sunday, Nov. 5, will be broadcast at noon on ESPNU.

All six teams in this year’s field were ranked or receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 with No. 1 Florida State, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 8 Clemson, No. 11 Notre Dame, No. 20 Pitt and Wake Forest receiving votes.

Tickets for the semifinals and final of the 2023 Ally ACC Championship semifinals and final are on sale now and can be purchased at theacc.co/23champtix. Single match tickets are on sale now for $10 for adults 19 and up, while ACC students and youth (18 and under) are admitted for free. Town of Cary employees are also admitted for free. The first 500 fans in attendance at each matchday will receive a free soccer scarf.
