More than 250 teams compete in 2014 August Cup at Maryland SoccerPlex
The 2014 August Cup was held over the weekend at the Maryland SoccerPlex, as The Damascus Soccer Club of Alliance SC and Maryland Rush Montgomery – the charter members of the Maryland Soccer Foundation – hosted the annual preseason event.
More than 250 teams from five states, mostly from Maryland and Virginia, descended on the SoccerPlex to compete in the August Cup, which featured U9-U19 age groups with college showcase competition for the older divisions.
Attending clubs at the 2014 event included: BRYC, Calvert Soccer Association, Davidsonville, Loudoun Soccer, Md. Rush Montgomery, SAC, Alliance SC, ASA, Barcelona Md., FC Virginia, Montgomery SC, MSI, Bethesda Soccer Club, Great Falls Soccer, Maryland United FC, McLean Youth Soccer, MSC Academy, Salisbury Futbol Club, SYA, Thunder SC, Eastern Shore SC, DC Stoddert, Henlopen SC, Takoma Park, Arundel SA, ABGC, New Hyde Park Wildcats SC, Severna Park, VSA, Gunston SC, Churchland SL, Leesburg FC, Pachuca FC, Sterling YSA, Vienna YS, Davidsonville SC, Baltimore Celtic SC, Annandale United, Freedom SC, Chantilly SC, Fusion FC, Hereford SC, Salem Sabres FC, Southwestern YA, Northern Virginia SC and Reston SA.

Unfortunately some of the age groups had their final matches rained out, but others were able to play out their full schedules in an impressive preseason showing for the attending teams. The tournament board is currently reviewing the games that were lost due to the weather.
The 2015 August Cup is slated for Aug. 28-30.
