Akron men’s soccer team welcomes 7 new Zips for Spring 2025 campaign

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men’s soccer squad under the leadership of head coach Jared Embick, has added seven newcomers that will hit the pitch for the Zips during the 2025 spring campaign.
Donning the Akron uniform this spring will be William Arnesen (Hillerod, Denmark), Aljaz Dodig (Ljubljana, Slovenia), Freddy Kossehasse (McKinney, Texas), Tyler Morck (Bethpage, N.Y.), Jose Pedro (Porto, Portugal), Jamai Royer (Markham, Ontario) and Jack Sullivan (Potomac, Md.).
“We are excited to welcome this spring class,” Embick commented. “We have been able to bring in dynamic players in each third of the field. We wanted skill, pace and toughness to go along with great character. I believe we have accomplished that and look forward to see how these guys complement our returning players this spring.”
A native of Hillerod, Denmark, Arnesen, a winger, comes to Akron after playing two seasons at Old Dominion where he appeared in 26 games, including 21 starts. He registered six goals, while adding three assists on the strength of 50 shots, including 20 shots on goal. Tabbed No. 85 on the TopDrawerSoccer.com Postseason Top 100 Freshman list in 2023.
A native of Ljubljana, Slovenia, Dodig, a winger, comes to Akron from playing top level soccer with famous clubs Celje, NK Radomlje and NK Slovan. Won Slovenian league titles back-to-back for NK Radomlje in U18 and U19. Also played for the national team U15-U18.
A native of McKinney, Texas, Kossehasse, a defender, comes to Akron after playing two seasons at Iowa Western Community College where he helped his squad capture the 2024 NJCAA D1 National Championship. He appeared in 27 games for the Reivers over two campaigns, including 22 starts.
A native of Bethpage, N.Y., Morck, a midfielder, comes to Akron after spending two campaigns at St. John’s where he appeared in 17 games, including 10 starts en route to tallying four goals and two assists on the strength of 15 shots, including seven on goal. Garnered BIG EAST All-Tournament, BIG EAST Honor Roll and BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors during the 2024 season. Tabbed No. 92 on the TopDrawerSoccer.comPostseason Top 100 Freshman list in 2024. Gained valuable played experience with NYCFC Youth Academy and for NYCFC II in the MLS Next Academy.
A native of Porto Portugal, Pedro, a defender, comes to Akron after playing in the Liga Revelacao reaching the champions phase for famous Portuguese team Rio Ave.
A native of Markham, Ontario, Royer, a defender, comes to Akron after helping his St. Mary’s Secondary School to a 2023 LOSSA title. Gained valuable club playing experience with Vaughan Soccer Club with fellow Zip Remi Agunbiade.
A native of Potomac, Md., Sullivan, a midfielder, comes to Akron after playing two seasons at Saint Louis where he appeared in 17 matches and registered an assist on the strength on six shots, including two on frame. Garnered key minutes with the Colorado Rapids 2 in MLS Next Pro and was tabbed the 2022 MLS Academy Player of the Year. TopDrawerSoccer.com tabbed him among its Top 125 Players to Watch in 2023.
