All-star teams announced for US Youth Soccer ODP Boys Thanksgiving Interregional
FRISCO, Texas (Via US Youth Soccer) – US Youth Soccer has announced the US Youth Soccer ODP All-Star teams for the 2014 US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Boys Thanksgiving Interregional, which recently took place Nov. 27 – Dec. 1 at Grande Sports World in Casa Grande, Ariz. Of the nearly 150 players that participated in the event, two rosters were constituted based on outstanding performance – one for 2000 and 2001 age groups.
Among the top leading goal scorers in the tournament were Region III’s James Brighton and Region II’s Eric Conerty in the 2000 age group along with Region III’s Josh Darius in the 2001 age group, who all scored three goals. Region III won the most games out of any other Region, garnering four wins in competitions across both age groups. Region II sat alone at the top of the 2000 age group while Region III and Region IV each earned seven points in the 2001 age group with Region III winning on the tie breaker.
The US Youth Soccer ODP Boys Thanksgiving Interregional featured players that were selected from US Youth Soccer State Association and Regional level evaluations. Throughout the event players attended training sessions and competed in matches in front of U.S. Soccer national staff and collegiate coaches for the opportunity to be selected to a higher level of play.
With programs in all 55 US Youth Soccer State Associations, US Youth Soccer ODP, the original Olympic development program, is available to any player. US Youth Soccer ODP claims members of Major League Soccer, the National Women’s Soccer League, and the majority of current and past national and youth national team members, as alumni.
