Arizona signs transfers from UCLA and University of Portland

TUCSON, Ariz. – As the 2022 soccer season draws closer, Arizona head coach Becca Moros has announced the addition of two players via transfer that will join the Wildcats for the upcoming 2022 season and be eligible to compete immediately.

Hannah Mitchell, a goalkeeper, is a transfer from UCLA while Nyota Katembo, a midfielder, is a transfer from the University of Portland.

Mitchell is originally from Clinton, N.J. and has spent the last three seasons at UCLA. After redshirting during the 2019 season, she did not see any game action during the 2020 campaign and then made her collegiate debut in the 2021 season opener. In all, she has appeared in two matches for a total of 90 minutes and allowed one goal while making three saves.

A two-time Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll honoree, Mitchell was called up to the U-19 National Team for Scotland in May 2019. She led PDS Storm to the 2015 ECNL Championship and was a three-year member of the New Jersey ODP and regional pool call-up.

Katembo played her freshman season at the University of Portland, where she appeared in all 17 matches and made nine starts. She played over 700 minutes and had two assists against Colorado College and North Dakota.

She played with Team Quebec from 2015 through 2018 while also competing with FC Laval (2020) and AS Blainville (2021). Originally, she was born in Nyarugusu, Tanzania.

Arizona’s 2022 season gets underway at home on Aug. 18 against Iowa State.
