Atlanta United FC signs 18-year-old Luke Brennan as Homegrown player
ATLANTA – Atlanta United 2 has signed forward Luke Brennan to an MLS NEXT Pro contract for the 2023 season, pending league and federation approval. The former Academy standout has seen playing time with ATL UTD 2 in each of the past two seasons. Brennan will become an Atlanta United Homegrown player effective Jan. 1, 2024.
“Luke has continued to progress through the ranks over the past few seasons,” Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra said. “He’s a talented player that can play off either wing. He got some experience with our first team during preseason, and we are looking forward to seeing him continue to develop with our MLS NEXT Pro team this season.”
Brennan, 18, made his professional debut for ATL UTD 2 on Oct. 17, 2021 against Memphis 901 FC. Last season, the forward made 27 appearances in the USL Championship including 11 starts. His first professional goal came on July 6, 2022 in a 3-3 draw against Birmingham Legion FC. He followed that up with another goal in the next match against FC Tulsa. Later in the campaign, Brennan contributed his first two career assists. He finished the season playing 1,044 minutes with ATL UTD 2.
