Auburn soccer program signs Virginia Tech transfer Grace Sklopan

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn soccer and head coach Karen Hoppa announced the addition of Virginia Tech transfer Grace Sklopan to the team’s 2021 signing class.

A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Sklopan started in all 36 of Virginia Tech’s matches in the last two seasons and logged more than 3,100 minutes in the midfield. She led the Hokies with 1,489 minutes in 17 contests during the 2020-21 season.

A holding midfielder, Sklopan appeared in 57 of a potential 58 games and earned 39 starts in her three-year career at Virginia Tech. Although she primarily played on the defensive half and helped facilitate possession, Sklopan tallied three points on one goal and one assist in her career. Her lone goal was the game-winner in a 1-0 win against Wake Forest on Oct. 18, 2019. She assisted in a game against Florida State the week prior.

Before enrolling at Virginia Tech, Sklopan prepped for two seasons at Bishop Ireton High School and competed for McLean Soccer Club of the ECNL. She helped guide McLean to the ECNL National Championship in 2018, posting a 37-0 overall record.
