Bethesda, Freestate find similar success as Va. clubs struggle in weekend ECNL action

Freestate Soccer Alliance and Bethesda SC’s results over the weekend nearly mirrored each other, with each club’s Under-15, U-16 and U-17 sides picking up a win and a draw each.
Only the two clubs’ Under-18 and U-14 results varied. Freestate’s U-18s picked up a win and a tie, while Bethesda tied and lost. In U-14s, Freestate picked up two wins, while Bethesda lost twice.
Freestate and Bethesda’s U-15s didn’t lose over the weekend, with both clubs picking up ties Saturday and wins Sunday. Freestate tied Albertson Fury 1-1 and defeated East Meadow 2-1, while Bethesda SC tied East Meadow 1-1 and beat Albertson Fury 2-0.
The two clubs’ U-16s had similar results, both also getting a win and a tie. Freestate defeated Albertson Fury 3-2 and tied East Meadow 1-1, while Bethesda SC defeated East Meadow 3-0 and tied Albertson Fury 1-1.
In U-17 play, Bethesda SC and Freestate again scored a win and a tie each against the same two opponents. Bethesda tied East Meadow 1-1 and beat Albertson Fury 3-0. Freestate, meanwhile, shutout Albertson Fury 4-0 and tied East Meadow 1-1.
Freestate’s U-18s, after a 3-1 loss to Albertson Fury Saturday, rallied for a 3-1 win over East Meadow the following day. Bethesda picked up a 1-1 tie against East Meadow Saturday, but lost 5-0 Sunday to Albertson Fury.
McLean Youth Soccer’s clubs had a mixed weekend against PDA Sunday, with the U-15s, U-16s and U-18s falling 1-0, 2-0 and 3-0, respectively. The U-17 result wasn’t immediately available.
In U-14 play, FC Virginia tied 1-1 with FC Bucks Saturday and followed that up with a 3-1 win over FC Delco Sunday. The Richmond Strikers fell to FC Delco 5-0, while Virginia Rush lost 2-0 at CASL Chelsea Ladies.
Freestate’s U-14s picked up two wins, 4-1 over Albertson Fury and 4-0 over East Meadow. Bethesda lost to East Meadow 3-0 and Albertson Fury 4-0.
