Bethesda SC announces departure of Girls DOC Shannon Cirovski

(Via Bethesda SC) – The Bethesda Soccer Club has announced that Girls Director of Coaching and ECNL U15 Head Coach Shannon Cirovski will be stepping down in August 2019.

After spending the last four and a half years working tirelessly to make BSC’s girls program one of the top programs in the country, Cirovski is looking forward to spending more time with her family and finding new ways to contribute to the sport she loves.

During her time at BSC, Shannon’s coaching and dedication to the young women in the program resulted in more than 100 players going on to play college soccer or attend a two or four-year university. Her teams made multiple appearances at the ECNL National Playoffs and won many prestigious tournaments.

“Bethesda will be forever thankful for Shannon’s hard work setting our girls up with strong role models. Her passion and knowledge of the sport is unmatched and it will be difficult for us to find someone to fill her shoes. I look forward to seeing what she does next” said Lisa Frates, BSC’s Executive Director.

Dave Greene, a long-time BSC girls coach who was recently named the MACS Richard Bartos Memorial Boys Coach of the Year — an honor given to the best high school coach in Maryland each year — will be taking over as the Interim Director of Coaching for the Girls Program, as well as head coaching responsibilities for the U15 ECNL team.

Greene has coached eleven Girls State Cup Champions, multiple nationally-ranked girls teams, spent time as an Olympic Development Program Girls Coach, and is s a repeat winner of The Washington Post’s Girls All-Met Coach of the Year and Boys All-Met Coach of the Year Awards.

The Club will conduct a nationwide search for a new Girls Director of Coaching beginning immediately.
