Boise State signs midfielder Jayla Land on transfer from Washington State

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State women’s soccer has announced the addition of transfer Jayla Land to its 2022 squad. Land has spent the previous two seasons at Washington State.

“Anytime you get to add a player of Jayla’s pedigree and quality it’s something you just simply can’t pass on,” said head coach Jim Thomas. “When you pair that with an area of the field we feel like we can become even better and even stronger, the future looks so bright for the central midfield of Boise State soccer. The final piece of the puzzle is bringing people of the correct character, ‘our kind of gals.’ Jayla’s club and family history means that she’s a shoe in the Bleed Blue for the rest of her career; keeping us in the hunt for championships year in and year out.”

Land is an attacking midfielder out of Irvine, Calif. In her freshman season she saw action in 10 of the 12 games for the Cougars, logging a season-high 36 minutes against Utah Feb. 28. This fall she played in 16 matches, logging 255 minutes and scoring her first-career goal (against Eastern Washington Aug. 28).

The Woodbridge High School product played for Slammers FC in the ECNL, the same club as current Broncos Carly CrossMia BurnsReese BodasMichaela JustinianiKenzie MacMillan and Makenna Potter.
