Boys Best XI selected from EDP Cup Fall 2022

EDP Soccer has announced the Best XI from last weekend’s EDP Cup Fall 2022, recognizing top performances across various age groups from the tournament.

The Best XI Boys from the EDP Cup Fall 2022 are:

#45 Owen Fried – Chicago Fire Youth SC 2012B Premier (IL)

Owen had a great weekend leading the team to the finals. He dominated the midfield on both sides of the ball and put his stamp on each game with his exceptional technical ability and distribution.

#2 Rentaro Kawase – Next Level Soccer 2012 Boys Black (AZ)

Rentaro was a key player for the outstanding Next Level Soccer 2012 boys team from Arizona. He has incredible ability and plays in the center of midfield with real intensity. Presses hard, wins tackles, forces mistakes, looks to connect and can run with the ball and shoot making him an amazing overall player.

#111 Lukas Cadena – FC Prime 2012 Elite SW Ranches (FL)

Cadena played at a consistently high level throughout the EDP Cup Fall Tournament. His vision, awareness, intelligence, and killer passing was on full display all weekend. He was a maestro at controlling and directing the flow and tempo of the game with his exceptional technical ability and IQ.

#48 Elliot Wong – New York Red Bulls – Metro (NJ)

Elliot excelled for the Red Bulls across all four games of the tournament. The versatile and hard-working midfielder displays a game understanding far beyond his years and provided the creative spark in Red Bulls’ 5-2 victory over FANJ in the final.

#19 Connor Hotts – Nationals Oakland 11 Boys Black (MI)

Connor was a key member of the Nationals Oakland side that won the championship in the top bracket. He played a crucial role in the team’s come from behind win to reach the final, and was excellent in all four of the team’s matches.

#5 Henry Cormier – The Football Academy NJ 2010 Boys Black (NJ)

Henry played forward and scored five goals during the weekend, including three goals coming in the game vs PPA in the group stage. He scored the tying goal in the final to make it 1-1 with very little time left. Henry proved once again that he is a clinical finisher over the weekend against some of the best teams around.

#18 Ryan O’Donnell – STA 2009B ECNL (NJ)

Ryan scored 5 goals across the weekend, leading the line well for STA. The dynamic, skillful forward did a great job dropping deep and connecting the play but also put defenders on the back foot in 1v1 situations. While Ryan got a few goals he also provided a lot for his teammates.

#26 Eli Dixon – Philadelphia Union Junior Academy 2013 (PAE)

Eli was excellent as a center midfielder and center forward for the championship winning side, being a key component to the team’s attack. The team played several close games, winning their last two group games 3-2 and 6-5, and then winning the final 3-2. His technical ability and athleticism were both on display all weekend long.

#24 Michael Maher – Philadelphia Union Junior Academy 2014 (PAE)

Michael played in goal, and made several key saves in each of the team’s games propelling them to a championship. Playing against top competition, his saves were the difference in each match.

#41 James Dudas – Torpedoes BU10 Red Arsenal (NJ)

James is a very talented midfielder with great vision and understanding of the game. Currently the team does not have a keeper, so James has been tasked to play that position and has done a tremendous job. Using his feet to keep possession of the ball and his distribution out of the back is a major reason the team has had so much success against top competition this season and coming out on top with the cup this weekend.

#10 Nathan Eble – Coppermine SC Boys 2015 Premier I (MD)

Nathan played center midfield for the championship winning side and started in all four games of the tournament. He had a total of five assists and eleven goals including one in the championship game against SYC.
