Capital Fall Classic wraps up with dramatic championship finales to girls weekend

RICHMOND, Va. – The Capital Fall Classic concluded in dramatic fashion on Sunday as girls’ weekend wrapped up with hard-fought division championships – several of them decided by penalty-kick shootout – under patches of sunshine and unseasonably warm temperatures.

While all bracket winners went home happy with winners’ medals and first-place trophies, Premier division champs were particularly thrilled as their triumphs booked them spots in next year’s Jefferson Cup, the prestigious March showcase event also hosted by the Richmond Strikers.

Several college coaches made the trip to the West Creek fields complex to take in some of the action and eye up potential recruits in the older age groups, while parents and other supporters packed the opposite sidelines in support of their young players.
