Carli Lloyd named candidate for Best FIFA Women’s Player of 2017

ZURICH (Via CONCACAF) – United States international Carli Lloyd was included Thursday on a list of 10 contenders for The Best FIFA Women’s Player 2017.

The 35-year-old midfielder, who captured the honor last year, joined Manchester City on loan from the Houston Dash in February 2017. With the English side she helped it reach the 2016/17 UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-finals and lift the FA Women’s Cup for the first time in front of a 35,000 crowd at Wembley Stadium. In 10 games for the U.S. since November 20, 2016, Lloyd has one goal and two assists.

The award, which will be presented will be presented at The Best FIFA Football Awards™ ceremony in London on October 23, 2017, recognizes achievements from November 20, 2016 to August 6, 2017.

Fan voting will account for 25% of the results and will run from Monday to September 7.
