Club Champions League hires Mayowa Owolabi as Communication and Administration Director
Charlottesville, VA – The Club Champions League has announced the hiring of Mayowa Owolabi as the Communication and Administration Director.
Owolabi started in his role on July 1, 2019. Owolabi will lead the daily communication efforts, social media, serve as the liaison between local media markets for the league and enhance the current partnerships and other league initiatives.
“The CCL would like to thank Jackson Eskay for his dedication to the CCL and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. His leadership in guiding the transition as the first Communication Director was excellent. In Mayowa Owolabi, the CCL will get an experienced, energetic, passionate and forward-thinking leader who cares about long-term youth soccer club development,” said Brian Kuk, CCL Executive Director.
Owolabi is a graduate of Old Dominion University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Education with a concentration in Sport And Business Management. Owolabi joins CCL from his most recent position as the Technical Director of CCL member club, Fredericksburg FC. He has over 10 years of professional working soccer experience, a US Soccer Senior A License, and is a member of VYSA’s Coaching Education Staff. After graduating from Old Dominion University, Owolabi has held numerous Director of Coaching/Technical Director roles at top youth clubs, has coached collegiately with Johnson and Wales University – North Miami, served as an Assistant Coach with Miami Fusion of the NPSL where the team won Sunshine Conference twice, and also coached with LA Premier FC during the inaugural US Soccer Girls Development Academy season.
“I am extremely excited to dive in two-footed here with the CCL. For the last 18 months, as the Technical Director of Fredericksburg FC, I have been an active Board Member of the league, and I have been able to see how well led and organized the CCL is. To be able to use my experiences to help grow the game locally, regionally, and nationally through the CCL will be an extraordinary opportunity for me and one that I could not pass up. The CCL has some exciting times ahead, specifically with the new US Youth Soccer League Championship (Regional Championship Qualifier) that was announced a few weeks back and the continued growth of multiple strategic partnerships. Being able to continue to work with soccer experts on the CCL Board and full-time staff, along with collaborating with entrepreneur mentalities like Brian Kuk (CCL Executive Director) and Darryl Gee (CCL Soccer Ambassador) will make this transition from club to league an exciting one,” Owolabi stated.
“We are proud as a league to continue to bring in professional, experienced staff members. With Mayowa joining us as a former Technical Director from a CCL club, he knows what our Board of Directors will need and expect out of his role. We believe strongly that he will bring a lot of value to the CCL,” stated CCL Soccer Ambassador, Darryl Gee. “Mayowa brings a ton of administrative experience so we are looking forward to see his impact on the CCL as we continue to progress through these exciting times!”
