Coastal Carolina women’s soccer introduces 12-player recruiting class

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina women’s soccer head coach Paul Hogan announced the addition of 12 newcomers to the Chanticleers roster, effective for the 2022-23 academic year.

“We are excited about this group of freshmen,” Hogan said. “We think they have quality both on and off the field. They will provide us with some depth as we expect some of these players to compete for starting positions.”

Julia Ziegenfuss: Jupiter, Fla.
A defender from Jupiter, Fla., Ziegenfuss attended William T. Dwyer High School where she was a multi-sport athlete (soccer, lacrosse, weightlifting, track) and a two-time district champion in soccer (2020, 2021). In 2019, she was named All-County Honorable mention in both track and soccer before making All-County First Team (soccer) in 2020. She was a First Team All-County (soccer), All-Area First Team (soccer), and an honoree for USA Today Southeast Florida Female Soccer Player of the year in 2021. Ziegenfuss’ senior season saw her pick up First Team All-County (soccer), All-Area First Team (soccer), and Most Valuable Offensive Player honors in 2022. Off the pitch, she was a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and National Science Honor Society, earned AICE Diploma, and was also the President of the American Sign Language Honor Society. She also competed with Palm Beach Predators GA at the club level.

Kamryn Towers: Jacksonville, Fla. 
A defender from Jacksonville, Fla., Towers attended St. Johns Country Day School where she was a six-time state and district champion (2017-2022). In 2017, Towers was named Second Team All-County and in 2018 was a first-team All-County selection. She was also named to the Clay Today Best XI in 2019 and the First Coastal Honorable mention in 2022. Towers earned an ECNL Southeast Conference selection. While at St. Johns Country Day School her team was twice ranked in the Top-5 of the United Soccer Coaches High School rankings, (No. 1, 2021; No. 4, 2022), named USA Today High School National Champion in 2018. Towers also participated in the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) where she was named to the Region III Team, participated 2019 International trip to Barcelona, and was also an Interregional and Invitational participant in 2021. She also played for North Florida Soccer Academy at the club level.

Tamlyn Parkes: Pont Vedra Beach, Fla. 
A midfielder from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., Parkes attended Ponte Vedra High School where she was a captain her senior year. She was a four-time 3A District Champion (2019-2020), and a two-time regional champion (2020, 2021). In 2021 she earned a 3A State Championship and was named the Most Outstanding Player in the Final Four. Parkes was named the 2022 Ponte Vedra Team MVP and also All-Area First Team. She led the team in goals during the 2021-22 season and was also a member of both the National Honor Society and Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society. Parkers also played for North Florida Soccer Academy.

Karis Turner: Columbia, Md. 
Turner, a forward from Columbia, Md., attended Reservoir High School where she played both soccer and basketball. She was named to the All-Decade Team at Reservoir High School in 2020. She was a three-time First-team All-County selection (2018, 2020, 2021) and in 2018 was an MPSSAA All-State Honorable Mention. Following the 2021 season, Turner was named to the All-State second team. Off the pitch, she was a member of the Honor Roll and the National Honor Society.

Bri Werner: Howard County, Md.
A midfielder from Howard County, Md., Werner attended Glenelg High School and won both the 2022 2A State and Regional Championships. In 2020, she was named All-State, All-Metropolitan, and All-County by the Maryland State Soccer Association. The 2020 season saw Werner become the leading goal scorer in Howard County and was in the Top 10 leading goal scorers in 2022. In the classroom, Werner was named to the Principals Honor Roll all four years of high school. At the club level, Werner played for Bethesda SC ECNL.

Maggie Mace: Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. 
A midfielder from Pone Vedra Beach, Fla., Mace attended Ponte Vedra High School where she was a three-time 3A Florida District Champion (2018-2021), a 6A District Champion (2021), a two-time 3A Regional Champion (2020, 2021), and in 2021 earned a 3A State Championship. Mace was named the team MVP in 2022 and midfielder of the year (2x) by head coach Dave Silverberg. In the classroom, she was a member of the National Honor Society and on the Ponte Vedra HS honor roll. Mace played for North Florida Soccer Academy at the club level.

Ella Glover: Nashville, Tenn. 
A defender from Nashville, Tenn., Glover attended Brentwood High School and was a two-time regular-season champion (2019, 2020), a two-time district champion (2018, 2019), and in 2019 was both a regional champion and state runner-up. Glover was named to the All-District team in 2021 and earned the coaches award in 2019. She was also a member of the National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, and the National Art Honor Society. At the club level, she played for Tennessee Soccer Club ECRL.

Brooke Kittner: St. Louis, Mo.
Kittner, a forward from St. Louis, Mo., attended Kirkwood High School where she was a four-time Missouri United States Youth Soccer (USYS) State Champion, and a 2019 USYS Midwest Regional Champion. Kittner also played club soccer for Sporting STL GA, where she captained the U19 Girls Academy League Sporting St. Louis. She was a 2022 GA Frontier Conference Champion and will play in the GA National Finals in June.

Mackenzie Milliman: Wilmington, N.C. 
Milliman, a midfielder from Wilmington, N.C., attended Eugene Ashley High School and played club soccer for Wilmington Hammerheads ECNL. She was a Mid-Eastern Conference (MEC) champion (2020-2021) and named to the All Coastal Preps Girls Soccer First Team (2021) and a MEC honorable mention (2020-2021). Off the field, Milliman was a member of the Honor roll, a Scholar-Athlete, and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Bowen Phillips: Atlantic Beach, Fla.
A defender from Atlantic Beach, Fla., Philips attended Fletcher High School where she was a four-time conference champion (2019-22), a 2019 District Champion, and a 2022 6A State Champion. She was named All-Conference in 2022 and was nominated for player of the year. Phillips also played for North Florida Soccer Academy at the club level.

Kirstin Brown: Lebanon, Pa. 
Brown, a goalkeeper from Lebanon, Pa., attended Cedar Crest High School where she was a two-time Lancaster-Lebanon League All-Star 2nd team selection. She also played for the PA Classics GA while also being named to the Cedar Crest HS honor roll.

Camille Wiles: Leesburg, Va.
Wiles, a midfielder from Leesburg, Va., attended Riverside High School where she was a multi-sport athlete in both soccer and basketball. She was a member of the Lambs to Rams mentorship group, DECA, and the A/B honor roll. Wiles also played for FC Virginia GA.

Coastal Carolina finished the 2021 season 6-9-2 overall and 4-5-1 in Sun Belt Conference play. The Chanticleers fell to Georgia Southern 1-0 in the Sun Belt Soccer Championship Quarterfinals.
