Conference newcomer BYU projected to win Big 12

In its first season competing in the Big 12, BYU was selected atop the league’s preseason poll as voted on by the Conference’s head coaches. This season also marks the debut of UCF, Cincinnati and Houston in the Big 12.

For the second time in three seasons, one point separated the top two teams. The Cougars received six first-place votes and a total of 156 points while TCU placed second with three first-place votes and 155 points. The 2022 regular season champion, Texas, gathered 152 points and five first-place votes to place third.

West Virginia placed fourth with 132 points after claiming its fourth Big 12 postseason championship title a season ago, while Texas Tech (117), UCF (115) and Oklahoma State (100) rounded out the top seven teams.

TCU, Texas, and West Virginia represented the Big 12 in the NCAA Tournament last season while BYU and UCF also received bids.
