Coverage Central – ECNL 2011 All-Star Trip to London, England

Overcoming major disruptions to their schedule caused by the sudden eruption of rioting and disorder on the streets of London last week, an Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) select team completed an impressive tour of England over the weekend, cruising to a 3-0 record against three top English academy sides.

Coached by Jay Howell (Birmingham FC) and Chris King (Ohio Premier), the all-star squad of 1994- and ’95-born players defeated Bristol Academy 6-1 on Wednesday, dispatched Chelsea FC with a 5-2 comeback victory on Thursday and dominated Aston Villa 7-0 on Sunday before flying home to the United States on Monday.

Officially known as the 2011 ECNL/id2 International Tour, the trip featured a 17-player squad including many of the top female prospects in U.S. soccer.
