D.C. United Academy’s Alexis Cerritos called to El Salvador MNT
(Via D.C. United) – D.C. United U-19 Academy midfielder Alexis Cerritos has been called up to the El Salvadoran National Team for their upcoming friendly against Canada on October 8 at BBVA Stadium in Houston, TX.
Cerritos has made five appearances (four starts) for the U-19 academy team this season, scoring one goal. His goal came in a 3-1 home win against Beachside Soccer Club on September 9.
“Alexis is a high-quality player with a great work ethic. He has a lot of potential and we’re proud of him for his call-up to El Salvador,” Ryan Martin, United Academy director, said. “This is great for his personal development as a player and we look forward to his continued success in the future.”
Cerritos is the son of former Black-and-Red forward Ronald Cerritos, who made 221 career MLS appearances with four teams spanning from 1997 to 2006. He played for United in the 2003 and 2004 seasons, making 20 appearances and scoring three goals.
