Dallas Cup 2024 Gordon Jago Super Group semifinal matchups decided

DALLAS, Texas – The 2024 Dallas Cup concluded group play on Wednesday in the U19 Gordon Jago Super Group, determining which teams advanced to the semifinals set to be played Friday evening at Toyota Stadium.

The first semifinal on Friday will feature Brazil’s Sao Paulo FC squaring off against England’s Fulham FC at 5:00pm CT. The second U19 semifinal match will be a showdown between local side FC Dallas and Brazil’s Botafogo at 7:30pm CT.

The 5:00 pm match is a clash between two former Super Group champions. Last year’s Super Group runner-up, Sao Paulo FC, is a three-time champion, winning the elite U19 bracket in 1995, 2007, and 2009. The 2024 Dallas Cup marks the fifth Super Group appearance for Fulham FC. The historic Premier League side hoisted the coveted “Boot & Ball” trophy in their Dallas Cup debut back in 2013.

The 7:30 pm semifinal match is showdown between local side FC Dallas and Brazil’s Botafogo. Heralded as one of the top MLS youth academies FC Dallas brings a rich history to the Dallas Cup, having secured eleven “Boot & Ball” trophies, including a memorable Super Group triumph in 2017. The 2017 championship marked a historic milestone as FC Dallas became the first and so far the only MLS Academy side to claim victory in the elite bracket.

Hailing from Rio de Janeiro, Botafogo debuted at Dallas Cup last year. After failing to advance from the group stage in 2023, the Brazilian side seems eager for redemption, as they powered through Group C with wins over Club Santos Laguna, St. Louis City SC, and defending champions FC Midtjylland.

The 2024 Dallas Cup Girls’ Invitational finals will also be played throughout the day on Friday at Toyota Stadium. The finalists will be determined tomorrow, following the girls’ semifinal matches at Toyota Soccer Center.

The 2024 Dallas Cup presented by Coca-Cola will run through March 31, featuring Boys’ U12 divisions up to the U19 Gordon Jago Super Group. The Dallas Cup Girls’ Invitational finals and the Super Group semifinals will be played on Friday, March 29 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, which will also host boys’ championship matches of the U13-U19 age groups on Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31.
